Democracy Vs Democraus....

So finally the presidential elections in the US are coming to an end....Gosh, hope Obama wins....not because I hate McCain (though he scares me with his choice of a nut job for a VP - Sarah Avg Hockey Mom Idiot Palin), but because I firmly believe the world needs Obama. I have a theory about the US - one borne out of observing the country and its people closely in the five years I spent there......American capitalism by virtue of its definition of each to his own....ensures the survival of the fittest - the way that society is built, is purely on individual effort. Unlike India, where we have a culture of dependence - on our families, on our government, on our friends, even our supposed great history....Americans are self made and do not need or depend on the government for day to day sustenance. The role of the government in the US is to stand by, create the right environment, utter the right words and watch as the ambitious. strong willed individuals go about creating gold - this is the reason why the kind of person in the White House becomes critical - he/she doesn't need to be an experienced, been there - done that old man, he/she cannot afford to be a dull, blundering, buffoon like Bush (as he/she has to be an inspiration)......yes that's the key word - INSPIRATION......that is the main role of the president in the lives of Americans and that's why Obama is key - irrespective of his lack of experience, suspect capabilities, opaque and flimsy policies - he inspires......he brings positive hope, he brings a certain zing, zeal, energy and enthusiasm to the table that is simply not ignorable.....

I;m confident if Obama is elected, he will re-vitalize the competitive, entrepreneurial spirit of the nation. Silicon valley will again come alive, the universities will buzz again and the factories of middle America will once again start churning out world beaters.....well, o.k the point is not that he will convert the faltering America today into an Atlantis - but that he represents the best hope for America....he is also the right person, at the right time, for the right job.

McCain lost me the minute he chose Pain...errr Palin - why?, oh why? would you destroy you reputation of decades on someone who cannot spell her name?, why are the republicans (who I really respect btw...not the right wing idiots but the more centrist, industry leaning, free market heroes) lining up behind self confessed duds - first Bush, then Palin?....hope a resounding defeat here will wake up some of those ostriches to get their head of out of the mud and look around

yeah! India is like a subsistence farmer watching the rains for survival..US is like a farmer who has diversified his landholdings by planting various things and hedging the bet the monsoon will fail and use that money to do something else..The key here is moving away from subsistence to that of being in business.

I had a respect for McCain till 2004 but after that slowly he is sucked by self-interest and stuff that its not pretty to see his flippin..Also Obama has a tax cut for first time entrepreneurs which serves you know who..hence my choice there
